E.A.T… SERVICES

A SESSION

  • Initial check in
  • Session focus and goals
  • Choice of technique
  • Art materials and symbology are used
  • Each session the same or different techniques can be used
  • Each technique or modality gives their own special response which is different each time and for each individual
  • Sometimes it might just be primarily talk therapy or primarily creative expression or eco based – the client leads the way

During the last quarter of the session there is further exploration which is very personal to each client.

As an art therapist, we may see and understand things that the client has communicated through their art as it is the clients own underlying meaning and symbology from where they draw their own answers being very personal and influenced their own life experiences.

WHAT FORMS OF ART & EXPRESSIVE THERAPIES ARE USED?

Painting, drawing, sculpture, clay, collage, journaling, creative writing, poetry, photography, textiles, sand play, movement, music, dance, drama, play, storytelling, narrative, mindfulness…

As a way to explore and gain an understanding of ourselves, others, our relationships and life experiences.

This can be expressed in the studio space or in nature…

THERAPY CHALLENGES

When a client wishes for change in their life and greater understanding of discomforts in their life:

Depression, anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, illness, addiction, grief, loss, trauma, abuse, relationship difficulties, communication, intimacy and commitment problems.

They may want to find more meaning in one’s life. To live to one’s fullest potential happily and authentically. Take charge of their life where they are empowered and have purpose.

Whatever the client is wishing change, its usually where there is discomfort, suffering and pain from which they want ease and experience more joy and peace.

Through my practice, I will be guided by you, going gently with ease and grace with a commitment to withhold your goals and focus on your desired outcomes in a safe, supportive and respectful space.

Everyone can benefit from Art Therapy, both children and adults from any culture and demographic or cultural background.  Art provides another form of expression for our thoughts and feelings, to explore, communicate and heal.

Art accesses a part of the brain not available through verbal communication, which is very helpful in trauma based healing. By expressing oneself symbolically and creatively, it can change ones view of the world, give new perspectives, increase resilience and self-understanding for a more integrated sense of self and a more peaceful path forward.
