MEET DEIDRIE TEHAN CULLEN

Eco and Art Therapies is a counselling service established by Deidrie Tehan Cullen to assist in peoples wellbeing, improve mental health and access their inner creativity.

Deidrie holds a Bachelor of Art in Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Counselling and is also a professional photographer.

Deirdre has always volunteered within her community, from as the President; Silkwood Steiner School P&F, GC Homebirth, GC Friends of the Birth Centre, initiated and ran a support group ‘Birthing Journeys’ for birth trauma.  Currently, Deidrie is a board member of GC Creatives, fostering art and creative connections within the local community.

As a grassroots activist, Deidrie has a history of advocacy for maternity services and was the QLD Health Consumer Representative of the Gold Coast Birth Centre, playing an integral role in its development and services.  Deidrie wholeheartedly believes that being a part of something bigger than herself is one of the fundamentals of her positive attitude on life.

Since 2022, Deidrie has a lived experience with Stage IV Breast Cancer. She brings to the table an empathetic and wholistic approach to ‘Thrive and Live’ life with a terminal disease diagnosis. Her passion is to be able to provide to others living with a terminal disease, some ease and peace without judgments and expectations.

Deidrie facilitates this counselling space with the client through either Talk therapy, Art therapy and/or Eco therapy. The client leads the way, where there is engagement between the therapist and the client. It is a wholistic creative approach and exploration with compassion, empathy, integrity and authenticity. Initiating healing, growth or transformation of emotional, physical, spiritual health to make meaning to their life and create solutions.

Her approach is strength based, client centred and solution focused.
